Welcome to Wild and Wonderful West Virginia!
West Virginia Baptists for Biblical Values is a Christ centered and Biblically based effort to impact our state for Jesus Christ. Our goal is to connect the people of God to the people of Government. We look to scriptures like 1 Timothy 2:1-4 which says “ I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” We as born-again Bible believers are commanded to pray, encourage, and help guide our leaders in government. Some may say that the church has no business in politics, but all throughout the Bible we read about people like Daniel, Esther, and the Apostle Paul who made a significant impact for Christ on the governments of their day
Our vision is to engage citizens of the Mountain State with their local and state government officials. We plan to turn this vision into a reality in several ways. First, pastors are encouraged to build relationships with the senators and delegates of their district. This can be accomplished through Capital Connection days, Pastor Days at the Capitol, face to face conversations, emails, phone calls, text messages and even handwritten letters. Someone once said people do not care how much you know until they know how much you care. If we ever hope to see souls to come to Christ in salvation and legislation that favors Biblical values and religious liberties, then it is imperative that we demonstrate the love of Christ in Charleston.
Secondly, this effort looks to inform, educate, and engage all West Virginians about the political process in our great state and how they can get involved and influence legislation for Christ. This goal is made attainable by communicating what is happening at the Capitol with the public through a statewide database that will send out emails and text messages of important information and how citizens can take action. West Virginia residents can sign up here on our website and receive updates and critical information about the legislature as well as ways to respond and get involved.
Pastor Bo Burgess, the director of West Virginia Baptists for Biblical Values, spends time each week traveling to the capitol in Charleston to meet with government officials, engage other pastors and churches to connect with their senators and delegates, and simply be a light for our Lord Jesus Christ. If you would like to more information about contacting your representatives or supporting West Virginian Baptists for Biblical Values, please contact Pastor Burgess. God bless you and may God bless the great state of West Virginia!
